THE HUSTINGS ON THE ISLAND-What’s it to me?

I wanted to let readers know who I am and what this is about…I have chosen to remain anonymous (or at least not to link my more known blogger profile with this blog) because I don’t generally like politics I find it ‘brings us to blows’ just like with any other topic that people have very strong views about. Therefore I find it not worthwhile to spend my life arguing politics…it can be draining and un-fun in the end…a never ending battle. In the past I have found it can be humorous especially with all the ole talk, mauvais langue and picong…but then there are also the serious issues…and when the ole talk, mauvais langue and picong gets carried away well…mixing the issues with the picong can be fun too but this elections round I’m finding that can be a potent mix…so to be honest let’s just discuss the issues!

I am a frequent blogger otherwise but I have purposely decided not to make my profile available since in my general blogging life, politics is the one thing I don’t blog about. My blogs are normally about fun to begin with… fun and only fun and they usually deal with exploring spiritual quests mostly…my inner questioning of:

“Who am I?”

And

“Who are you?”

And since in essence I feel we are all simply of spirit it can then take the position:

“Who are we?”

So politics isn’t my tastiest cup of tea…

However having said that …we are of spirit but embodied in flesh…and for us to get the resources in the flesh we need to go through political systems and government. It is how societies have organized up to gather and then distribute resources. Most societies nowadays, then follow a democratic process (that I think was developed initially by the Greeks and is heavily endorsed by the Americans) and so we go to the polls and vote to select who will run our government for us. We vote these people into office to manage the governance of our society for us on a larger scale. When we vote as a result we are voting with the hope that our needs will be to some extent (limited to the national resources) met by this government and really all of us have the same needs…if we are open and honest about it…and we want to know our needs are being dealt with by a free, fair and honest system…not one filled with nepotism, cronyism…we want a meritocracy! Well at least most of us want that…

So like Rowley I’m breaking the mold…initially I had intents of approaching this blog in a different manner …but now I’ve seen the light…my path is clear!

So let the Hustings begin! And if you want to also break the mold and support a meritocracy follow here!

FOOTNOTE:

And by the way it is interesting that the Hustings are on in the UK currently as well…the place where we inherited this whole system of Hustings from…’mudslinging’ became ‘ole talk, mauvais langue and picong’ in Trinidad but it came from our British colonial past I can tell you that…some people following the Westminster system have even been know to actually attack one another not just verbally but physically in parliament…I’ll tell you that…but the Hustings as I said early can make for fun I mean some of the choicest words are coined or made popular during the Hustings…in Trinidad and Tobago with the Bas (Basdeo Panday) gone from the mainstream politics the picong coming mostly from the PNM side I find…in fact it is now Manning who is shinning. He gave us ‘Wajang’ which I and most of the press cannot get over but recently he gave us another word ‘Kankatang’. But really also on the PNM end you are getting the majority of the divisive politics as well. This is the kind of politics I find dangerous…they are alluding to things without spelling it out and then covering it over by playing ‘Indian music’ but really they are saying things that will enrage about 50% of the population and entice the other 50% to feel it is OK to do it. So even if PNM wins the next general election half of the population will go on feeling shut out and disenchanted…like they don’t have a say…and always wonder if they are living under a government of cronies instead of a meritocracy! I hope they make attempts to clean up their campaign trail!
